Noted NFT artist XCOPY has – as anticipated – disabled the burn mechanics relating to his DAMAGE CONTROL NFT collection, solidifying the final numbers of each NFT in the series.
In total, DAMAGE CONTROL now features 2,221 individual NFTs, minted across 10 unique artworks – each created in the artist’s typical dystopian style, with animation and a limited colour palette front and centre.
XCOPY had been active on X in the days leading up to the closure of the burn mechanics on December 31, but has been mysteriously silent ever since – leaving collectors to ponder his next move.
What is XCOPY’s DAMAGE CONTROL NFT collection?
DAMAGE CONTROL is the latest major NFT collection by revered NFT artist XCOPY.
In his most ambitious works yet, DAMAGE CONTROL leaned on a previous series of XCOPY NFTs: MAX PAIN AND FRENS BY XCOPY – released as an open edition in 2022.
The only way to acquire one of the 10 NFTs from the DAMAGE CONTROL collections was to burn these MAX PAIN NFTs – a limited collection in its own right. Other NFTs in the DAMAGE CONTROL series required collectors to burn the initial DAMAGE CONTROL NFT, with some also requiring a small ETH fee.
These mechanics gave budding collectors an interesting game to play. Which NFTs are worth burning? Which are worth keeping? What works do they think are the most desirable? This has brought renewed interest in XCOPY’s older works, as well as his unique approach to NFT art in general.
As of December 31, 2024, the burn phase for DAMAGE CONTROL has now concluded.

DAMAGE CONTROL was just one of many highlights for XCOPY in 2024.
In September 2024, XCOPY saw his NFT titled Bad Flavour sell for 280 ETH – roughly $665,000 USD at the time – on the secondary market. This came just as the crypto market as a whole was gearing up for its end of 2024 rise, and led to renewed interest in NFT art from across the blockchain industry.
November 24 saw XCOPY join the Art Blocks ecosystem, releasing his ICNX collection. Created using the Art Blocks Engine – a code-based generative art tool – this brand-new collection of 500 NFTs has made a big impact. Initially available to mint for 0.42 ETH each, as of writing, the floor price of the collection sits at 2.12 ETH.
