Digital artist Anne Spalter has collaborated with musician and creator The Josh Craig on Future Trains, a unique collection of five NFTs set to be released on January 15 via MakersPlace.
The collection consists of five animated NFTs, with artwork by Spalter and original music compositions provided by Craig. Future Trains will be premiered at Bang & Olufsen’s SoHo NYC showroom, ahead of opening for purchase via the MakersPlace platform.
Each NFT is priced at 0.63 ETH ($2,150 USD), with a pre-sale window – enabling would-be buyers to claim additional physical goods – set to open soon.
Who are Anne Spalter and The Josh Craig?
Anne Spalter is a celebrated digital and AI-based mixed-media artist. Her art combines natural and man-made vistas with the sublime, and serves to reflect on the power of transformation and how society reacts to change. Spalter has left her mark on digital art academia, having established digital fine art courses at multiple top-level establishments, and written internationally-taught textbooks on the field.
Spalter has been active in the NFT industry since at least 2021, with all of her works having been minted on Ethereum. Her work has encompassed multiple collections, spanning the likes of NFT marketplace OpenSea, and art-focused sites such as SuperRare.
The Josh Craig is a producer and vocalist based in New York City, who ranges from soulful downtempo arrangements to illustrious dance beats. Alongside this, Craig explores the relationship between sound and colour to create mixed media art, collaborating with Embodme, Bang & Olufsen, Looking Glass Factory and more to build immersive audio environments.
Craig has been active in the NFT space since at least 2022, and has previously collaborated with Spalter on works such as Unconstructed Dream Space #2: Inner and Outer Space, sold at Philipps in July 2022.
What is Anne Spalter and The Josh Craig’s Future Trains?
Future Trains is a series of five 1-of-1 animated NFT artworks created through a collaboration between Anne Spalter and The Josh Craig, set to debut on January 15, and to be minted on Ethereum. The collection is set to premiere on January 15 at Bang & Olufsen’s SoHo NYC showroom.
Combining “original footage of the NYC subway system with custom musical compositions and immersive audio environments”, Future Trains takes a look at urban travel of the future. Each NFT combines “analog and digital processes”, with vibrant swathes of light, colour and motion set against thoroughly unique compositions.
Each of the NFTs is set at a price of 0.63 ETH on MakersPlace – roughly $2,150 USD at the time of writing. Should any of the NFTs be acquired during the pre-sale window, buyers will be eligible to redeem a custom physical vinyl, featuring the art of Spalter and the original music of Craig.
