What is LACMA?
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is an art museum located in Los Angeles, California.
Established in 1910, it has recently been a vocal supporter of NFTs in mainstream art circles, having accepted a donation of 22 prominent art NFTs from Cozomo de’ Medici in February 2023 that made it the largest holder of blockchain-based artworks amongst all American art museums.
LACMA regularly holds in-person events and symposiums across the United States – both public and private. These events generally aim to further the medium of art, with this particular Digital Art Symposium an example of their efforts to highlight the growing presence and culture of digital art.
Who else will attend the Digital Art Symposium?
Alongside Matt Hall and Beeple, LACMA’s Digital Art Symposium will also feature other prominent figures from the art world.
Artists in attendance include the likes of Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Cole Sternberg and Ix Shells, whilst industry figures at the event include Gilbert Vicario, Chief Curator at Pérez Art Museum Miami, Christiane Paul, Curator of Digital Art at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and art historian Yael Lipschutz.
This event is an invite-only affair, and is being held in downtown Miami, Florida.
