Burn Loucas Braconnier NFTs, Secure Dynamic NFT on Eclipse

Holders of the open edition NFT “Anticipation (of a future event)” by visual artist Loucas Braconnier have been burning their pieces to secure a unique whitelist spot.

By burning the NFT, holders are submitting their Eclipse address – an Ethereum-based Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) Layer-2 – for a whitelist spot to secure a mint of the network’s first dynamic NFT, based on the phases of the solar eclipse.

As of writing, over 68,000 of the 190,000+ NFTs have been burned so far – over a third of the total supply – with around 20 hours left until the burn period closes.

What is this Loucas Braconnier NFT?

“Anticipation (of a future event)” was an open edition NFT made available for 24 hours, starting on April 8, 2024.

The NFT celebrates Eclipse’s partnership with NFT marketplace Rarible, and saw the former partner with lauded Montreal-based visual artist Loucas Braconnier – better known under the pseudonym Figure31.

According to Scope – a native NFT launchpad for Eclipse that is hosting the NFT burn – Breconnier’s work “explores the specificity of the blockchain as a dynamic medium and the conceptual implications of collecting such artworks.”

What is Eclipse?

Eclipse is a SVM Layer-2 network on Ethereum – purportedly the first of its kind.

The network claims to combine Solana‘s speed with Ethereum‘s liquidity, creating a “best of both worlds” scenario to turbocharge transaction speeds whilst ensuring top-tier security, liquidity, and low fees.

The public mainnet of Eclipse went live on November 7, and the network has a fast-growing roster of supported apps and integrations, including the likes of Pyth, Orca and EtherFi.
