Blockchain-powered virtual world MapleStory Universe has launched its Gear Up NOW event, with exclusive rewards on offer.
Available to early access players, the Gear Up NOW event sees participants hunt monsters each day to collect a series of letters. Should a player collect all the letters to make up “MapleStory” – and complete their daily check-in tasks – they will be eligible for prizes that include in-game character and item transfers, limited-edition items and more.
The Gear Up NOW event is currently live, and is set to end on December 23.
What is MapleStory Universe?
MapleStory Universe is an online virtual world title, built on Avalanche.
Developed by Nexon, the game is an expansion of the wildly-popular browser MMO MapleStory, which has seen over 260 million players since its debut in 2003.
Rather than a single game, MapleStory Universe is a collection of blockchain-powered experiences set in the MapleStory universe, with players able to earn a variety of in-game and on-chain rewards.
The game is currently in early access testing, with plans for a full release in 2025.
Why should I jump into the Gear Up NOW event?
Alongside a chance to play MapleStory Universe before its full release, Nexon have confirmed that any rewards gathered during the Gear Up NOW event will be carried over to the official launch of the game.
The event features a number of quests with unique rewards, such as limited-edition items, on-chain pets and other in-game assets.
One of the most lucrative rewards on offer is a Character LIVE Server World Leap, which will allow players to transfer the character they’ve played throughout pre-launch testing into the official launch version of the game. This will allow them to keep any exclusive items, which could become rare and sought-after once the game has held its official launch.
