Popular NFT marketplace Rarible has announced that it has added support for creator-focused Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain Shape.
This move makes Rarible “the largest and oldest marketplace to integrate Shape”, and is seen as a boost for artists that are minting NFTs on the rapidly-growing Layer-2 network.
To celebrate the launch of Shape NFTs on Rarible, four artists are holding four Shape-based NFT art drops on Rarible – all of which are minting now.
What is Shape?
Shape is an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain, built as part of Optimism‘s Superchain ecosystem, using the OP Stack.
Developed from the start to cater towards NFT creators, Shape features a unique gasback mechanism that allows smart contract owners to reclaim 80% of their sequencer fees. This allows creators to share in the success of the network, with the hopes that this mechanism will help to bolster growth and attention.
This gasback mechanism will be made available through a dynamic generative NFT, that evolves as creators earn more ETH – giving them a Web3-native way to check their on-chain earnings.
What NFT drops on Shape are available on Rarible?
To celebrate the launch of Shape on Rarible, four notable NFT artists are holding four individual Shape-based NFT drops.
Artist, poet and author Amber Vittoria is dropping Keep It Together, a 48-hour time-limited NFT, featuring an array of hand-painted gradients set against a white background.
3D and AI animator Andre Oshea is releasing Highway Vaporwave, Thursday Morning at 7:11 AM, one-half of a vaporwave-inspired Metrix set, featuring an animated deconstruction of the popular “driving into the sunset” trope.
Digital artist nygilia is minting Soulscape, an animated contemporary piece that is “a reflection of history, strength, and embracing new cultures.”
Finally, generative artist RalenArc is creating Lume, an animated AI-driven NFT that blends vibrant colours, detailed patterns and a certain texture to achieve a rhythmic, harmonious, soothing piece.
