The NFT industry is home to countless NFT collectibles projects. One team set out to be different, and created one of the most unique and revered NFT projects in the world. That NFT project is 10KTF.
Built around the master craftsman known as Wagmi-san, who calls New Tokyo his home, 10KTF has carved out a distinctive niche by combining digital art, storytelling and NFT technology in thoroughly innovative ways.
10KTF provides an experience unlike any other in the NFT industry – but what exactly is 10KTF, how does it work, and why has it become so successful?
Here’s our complete 2025 guide to the 10KTF NFT project.
What is 10KTF?
10KTF is a unique NFT project that’s akin to a virtual workshop for modifying NFTs.
Holders of leading NFT collections – such as CryptoPunks, Bored Apes, Cool Cats and many more – can use 10KTF to customise their assets with high-quality accessories. This allows holders to boost the uniqueness and individuality of some of the world’s most collectible NFTs.
By connecting your wallet to the 10KTF platform, holders can verify their ownership of leading blue-chip NFT collections. They can then craft a huge variety of digital items – such as shoes, apparel, accessories and more – and customise them to be suitable for their asset.
Once designed, these personalised digital items are minted as unique NFTs, directly linked to the blue-chip NFT collectible. This is then recorded on the Ethereum blockchain, ensuring everything is traced and verified on-chain.
10KTF was created by WENEW Labs, a team that was co-founded by renowned digital artist Beeple.
One of the most impressive elements of 10KTF is its narrative-driven brand. 10KTF tells a story through its lead character Wagmi-san and the fantasy city of New Tokyo, creating an immersive experience that draws the community in.
Speaking of community, it plays a massive role in 10KTF. Users take part in missions that progress the storyline of Wagmi-san and New Tokyo, earning badges, materials, tools and more. This approach has kept users invested in the story of 10KTF to date, and is likely to keep them engaged as we head into the future.
What has 10KTF accomplished so far?
10KTF debuted on September 17, 2021. It’s unique idea for NFT accessories took off, and in early 2022, 10KTF expanded its list of supported NFT collections. Today, this list of supported collections runs to well over 20 of the world’s top NFT collections.
March 2022 saw 10KTF partner with Gucci to launch the Gucci Grails collection, merging high fashion with digital collectibles. Later in the year, 10KTF would also partner with sportswear giant Puma, kicking-off a golden age for the project.
November 2022 saw Yuga Labs – creators of Bored Apes and stewards of CryptoPunks – acquired WENEW Labs and 10KTF. This boosted interest in integrating 10KTF accessories in Yuga-made NFTs, and drove speculation of what could happen between 10KTF and the Otherside metaverse.
2023 saw 10KTF focused on improving the user experience of their platform, alongside integrating additional NFT collections into its supported network.
The year saw the introduction of crafting mechanics that used “blanks” and “tools”, allowing for greater customisation options. Storytelling continued, keeping users engaged with new missions, updates and lore – with 10KTF growing to over 22,000 items, and a total volume that exceeded 12,500 ETH.
October 2024 saw design studio Possible Productions – best-known for working with Netflix, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber – announce their acquisition of 10KTF from Yuga Labs, forming a new company titled Kagami to push its future development.
As of writing, Kagami has kept quiet since acquiring 10KTF – though given their experience in managing world-leading brands, events and personalities, we’re certain that whatever they’re cooking up will have a big impact on the Web3 industry.
What does the future hold for 10KTF?
Under the stewardship of Kagami, 10KTF’s focus has shifted to “building tools for a broader web3 audience”, according to CEO @awildbambam.
Potential future developments could include:
- A 10KTF metaverse. Rumoured whilst under Yuga’s ownership, the world of Wagmi-san and New Tokyo is perfectly-suited to a metaverse experience, which could breathe new life into the 10KTF brand.
- Enhanced features. New accessories are always a possibility for 10KTF. New assets and new interactive options could help to boost user engagement.
- New partnerships. The end of 2024 saw many big brands collaborate with Web3 projects. With both Gucci and Puma having worked with 10KTF, 10KTF have displayed their potential to other big brands looking to gain a foothold in Web3.
- Community initiatives. One of 10KTF’s biggest assets is its community. By doubling-down on its storytelling, events and missions, these community initiatives will help to further make 10KTF’s community one of the most powerful in the industry.
With new freedoms under Kagami, 10KTF can again push the boundaries of the NFT industry to create unique experiences and customisation opportunities.
10KTF signifies an evolution in how users can interact with their NFTs. By providing options for personalisation – alongside utility and a compelling narrative – they allow NFTs to be dynamic assets, creating a more involved experience for NFT holders. This doesn’t just enrich their appeal, but shows the flexibility of the NFT medium.
The 10KTF project is one with tons of potential. Perhaps more so than any other NFT project, their path ahead is wide open, with boundless opportunities in front of them. They’re set to continue breaking expectations, pursuing uniqueness, and bringing immersive experiences to the point where art, technology, and storytelling meet.
