XCOPY Reveals All DAMAGE CONTROL NFT Burns

Celebrated NFT artist XCOPY has revealed a list of the live NFT burns that form his DAMAGE CONTROL series, with all the burns set to end on December 31, 2024.

Holders of “MAX PAIN AND FRENS BY XCOPY” (MPAF) NFTs – an open edition NFT released in 2022 – have the option to burn their tokens to receive DAMAGE CONTROL NFTs, a brand-new series of NFTs that are limited to only 250 or 500 pieces each.

This burn period not only serves to bring renewed interest to XCOPY’s older works, but gives holders both the opportunity – and the dilemma – of being able to secure new works from the revered artist.

What NFT burns are available?

There are ten different DAMAGE CONTROL NFT burns available, which are as follows:

This process of NFT burns allows holders of the MAX PAIN NFTs – of which there are around 4,000 still in circulation – to acquire a much rarer and more limited piece of XCOPY’s work.

It is unknown if there will be another opportunity to exchange XCOPY’s open editions for more limited pieces once the burn period ends on December 31.

Is NFT art returning?

XCOPY’s work has attracted significant recent interest – even prior to the recent crypto rally, sparked by the U.S. election.

On September 10, his piece titled Bad Flavour was purchased on the secondary market for 280 ETH – approximately $665,000 USD by @punk4945, an anonymous collector of XCOPY’s works.

Although the NFT art market as a whole has largely stagnated across 2024, a small cohort of prominent artists have found success. With a growing bullish sentiment across blockchain-related industries as we head into 2025, there is an expanding positive sentiment that’s beginning to fester across the markets.
