Digital art platform Art Blocks is just days away from one of its flagship events of the year – Marfa Weekend 2024, taking place in Marfa, Texas between November 14-17.
The event brings together users of the code-based generative art platform, as well as digital art collectors, enthusiasts and more to celebrate, discuss and share their love of blockchain-based art.
This will be the fourth annual iteration of the Art Blocks Marfa Weekend event, celebrating all things generative art.
What is Art Blocks?
Art Blocks is an online platform for code-based digital art.
NFT artists can use the platform to set up, host and help generate their digital works, whilst collectors can peruse the available pieces and – through the act of purchasing – create a brand-new, never-before-seen iteration of that artists’ work in the form of an NFT.
NFTs generated by Art Blocks are hosted on the Ethereum blockchain, which is utilised to ensure art authenticity, facilitate creator royalties, and track metadata such as the time of generation, the owners of the piece, and more.
What will happen at Art Blocks Marfa Weekend 2024?
As in previous years, the event will feature an array of exhibitions, panels, installations and more – all designed to bring the art community together for hearty debate, discussion and discovery.
The main exhibition, titled “Tokens of Presence” will explore how generative art can exist in physical mediums such as sculpture, fragrance and jacquard weaving, featuring the works of Michael Kozlowski, Iskra Velitchkova, Zach Lieberman, and Lars Wander.
Panels such as “Preserving Digital Art for the Future” will dive into what the years ahead may look like for the medium, whilst installations such as “The Crafted Closet: Threaded Thrifts” will give guests a hands-on experience where generative art mixes with second-hand fashion.
