Telegram-based tap-to-earn game Captain Tsubasa: Rivals has revealed plans for their long-awaited token, to be called $JOHN.
The token, which the game’s developers state is “inspired by the adorable dog of our legendary goalkeeper Wakabayashi”, is reported to be landing on the TON blockchain – although no dates for either a snapshot or the launch have been communicated to date.
TON powers a vast majority of the tokens behind tap-to-earn games, as it is Telegram’s blockchain of choice – though Captain Tsubasa: Rivals does have a partnership with gaming-focused Layer-1 blockchain Oasys.
What is Captain Tsubasa: Rivals?
Captain Tsubasa: Rivals is a football-themed Telegram-based tap-to-earn game.
Based on the popular Japanese manga of the same name, players tap onto characters from the popular manga to earn the in-game Balls currency. This currency can then be used to upgrade these characters, allowing them to generate increasing amounts of passive income.
The game’s official title is “Captain Tsubasa: Rivals on TG”, as another game of the same name is already live on Polygon. This title has its own, unrelated token: $TSUGT.
How can I earn $JOHN tokens?
Though many details have yet to be unveiled, players believe that the amount of Balls a player has generated will count towards the allocation of $JOHN tokens they will receive upon the launch of the token.
Until December 4, players can also earn the new in-game currency Rivals Coins – which have been teased to play a role in the upcoming airdrop allocation.
Players are encouraged to join as soon as possible, as announcement of the token brought a wave of new players to the title. As of writing, the game has over 4.5 million players – and that only looks set to increase.
