Popular NFT collection Cool Cats has shone the spotlight on their companion collection Shadow Wolves, as rumours swirl regarding a new token arriving soon.
In a post on X, Cool Cats shared a clip from a recent episode of their Titmouse-produced animated series The Milk Chug. In the clip, Blue Cat encounters a Shadow Wolf for the first time, with Cool Cats adding the caption “hope you didn’t forget about Shadow Wolves” to the post.
This post – spurned on by rumours of a brand-new Cool Cats token that began the day prior – helped Shadow Wolves to rocket in price. As of writing, the floor price of Shadow Wolves has increased by a whopping 745% in the last 7 days, rising from a price of 0.02 ETH to 0.17 ETH.
What is Cool Cats?
Cool Cats is a 9,999-piece NFT avatar collection, based on Ethereum.
The collection – built around creator Clon’s Blue Cat character – debuted in July 2021, and quickly became one of the collections at the heart of the 2021 NFT boom. They are perhaps best-known for an appearance at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2023, after winning a contest for an NFT collection to appear at the event.
Cool Cats reached an all-time high floor price of 15 ETH in January 2022 – and has recently seen a revival. In December 2024, Gary Vaynerchuk announced his purchase of a Cool Cats NFT, which raised the floor price from 0.68 ETH to 1.70 ETH before a correction.
Recent rumours of a new token launch have helped to push the floor price further. As of writing, Cool Cats currently sit at a floor price of 1.72 ETH.
What are Shadow Wolves?
Shadow Wolves is a 6,250-piece NFT avatar collection, based on Ethereum – and the leading companion collection to the Cool Cats NFTs.
Within the Cool Cats lore to date, Shadow Wolves have been portrayed as druidic, nomadic creatures with an aggressive, uncivilised nature – although in a recent episode of The Milk Chug, Blue Cat encounters what seems at first to be a friendlier Shadow Wolf by the name of Kira.
The Shadow Wolves collection is designed as a lower-tier entry point into the Cool Cats ecosystem. These NFTs provide their holders with mid-tier “Super Cool” membership in Cool Cats’ Cooltopia ecosystem.
