Dapper Labs, the studio behind CryptoKitties, has introduced a new multi-token system, Meowcoins, on Flow for its Telegram-based game CryptoKitties: All The Zen.
Unlike previous token systems that saw inflated hype followed by steep declines in value, Meowcoins are built to promote long-term player involvement and sustain the game’s in-game economy.
With the first batch of tokens now in circulation, the new system introduces multiple token types, each with specific roles in the game’s evolving mechanics.

What are Meowcoins?
Meowcoins consist of seven distinct tokens, six of which were launched on April 24. The tokens are designed to serve various purposes within the CryptoKitties: All The Zen gameplay loop and is divided into three primary types:
- Fancy Coins: These are the most common token, earned through daily activities such as logins and completing in-game quests.
- Beancoins: These are harder to earn, accumulated more slowly, and used primarily for staking to generate additional rewards.
- Family Coins: These coins are crafted by burning a complete set of Fancy Coins from each of the five fictional families within the game. Family Coins offer more strategic value and are necessary for advanced gameplay.
This multi-token approach ensures that players remain engaged by providing tokens that have practical uses in both short-term and long-term gameplay, with additional tokens being introduced during seasonal events to keep the economy relevant.

How do meowcoins work?
The Meowcoin system allows players to engage with the tokens in several ways: they can be wagered, burned, or staked within various in-game systems.
One of the key features is the Rumor Mill, a prediction market where players can bet on fictional storylines within the game.
The emphasis is on creating a stable in-game economy by reducing sell pressure and avoiding the boom-and-bust cycles that often accompany blockchain gaming. Instead of tokens being listed on external exchanges, they remain integrated into the game, with their value and utility derived from player engagement and in-game activities.

What’s next for CryptoKitties: All The Zen?
The first Meowcoin airdrops began on April 24, for players who participated in the first two seasons of CryptoKitties: All The Zen.
As the game progresses, subsequent events will be introduced to expand the ecosystem and keep the gameplay loop fresh. Players will be able to participate in staking, burning, and prediction markets as the economy evolves.
With more events and a seventh token arriving next week, Dapper Labs aims to build a sustainable token system that works for both casual players and those seeking deeper gameplay interaction.
