Who is Maz?
Maz is a pseudonymous conceptual digital artist, based in Dubai.
Her recent art, which spans both static and animated pieces, combines flat, bright colours with bold, striking imagery. Whether creating a complex scene or a two-colour work, Maz’s art allows the viewer to reflect on their experiences through her digital collectibles, exploring images of self and our understanding of confidence and esteem.
Maz has been active in the NFT industry since 2022, with the majority of her works having been minted on Ethereum and Tezos. What is Maz’s Alpha NFT collection?
Alpha is a collection of two unique 1-of-1 NFTs, minted by Maz on Ethereum via Foundation in 2025.
The collection currently consists of two individual works. The first of these is IN THE SHADOWS, a black and white silhouette self-portrait featuring two spiders interspersed with Maz’s face. The piece features strong use of negative space, and depicts Maz “embarking on my journey,” where she “let this inner light guide me, willingly embracing the surrounding darkness.”
Using negative space to her advantage, Maz describes the piece as “a testament to my resilience” and “a visual representation of a journey into the shadows, made possible only through unwavering self-belief.”
The second piece in the collection is Welcome to Hell, a red and black silhouette of a female devil character in hell with a hand covering her right eye. The piece is a reminder that “when live becomes hell – it’s not a punishment but a forge – a place that tests your limits and builds your strength.”
Maz describes the environment depicted in Welcome to Hell as a place where “scars become armor, pain becomes power, and every challenge fuels resilience”, ending with “the flames don’t consume you; they transform you.”
