Web3 development firm Sonic SVM has revealed SonicX, a Solana-based tap-to-earn game that is fully playable from within the TikTok app.
Like Telegram, TikTok allows users to open webpages inside its browser, meaning that any web app – including Telegram games – can fully run inside of TikTok.
By shifting tap-to-earn games from Telegram onto another massively-popular social media platform in TikTok, Sonic are hoping that this innovation will give them a leading position in this exciting new area.
What is SonicX?
SonicX is a brand-new tap-to-earn Web3 game, developed by the Sonic SVM team.
As with other tap-to-earn games, players tap the screen to earn an in-game currency. This currency can be used to purchase in-game upgrades that increase earning potential, with this currency count counting towards a future airdrop of a fungible token.
This is the first game of its kind to use TikTok’s support of web apps to appear on the platform – and has been specifically designed to engage with TikTok users.
Since its launch, the game has already acquired over 100,000 players – and is continuing to grow quickly.
What does this mean for tap-to-earn gaming?
Telegram-based tap-to-earn games have had a rough few weeks.
After lacklustre airdrops from hyped-up titles such as Hamster Kombat and Catizen, community sentiment had begun to decline for the genre – but with TikTok entering the fold, and a whole new audience of possible users, a bullish sentiment has begun to return.
SonicX is the first tap-to-earn game to hit TikTok, but we’re sure it’ll be quickly followed by many others looking to capitalise on the opportunities this presents.
Bullish on web3. Competitive soul.
