Prolific NFT artist XCOPY is set to join the Art Blocks ecosystem with the release of his ICNX collection on November 21.
Produced using Art Blocks Engine – a code-based generative art platform – the ICNX collection features 500 animated pixel-based NFTs in XCOPY’s eccentric style.
Each ICXN NFT is available to mint at the price of 0.42 ETH each. Public minting opened at 18 UTC on November 21, with pieces selling very quickly. As of writing, over half of the available NFTs have now sold.
Who is XCOPY?
XCOPY is a pseudonymous London-based digital artist. Combining dystopian aesthetics with a select colour palette and brutal animation, his work has gained a loyal following since debuting in 2010.
Over the past several years, he has explored NFTs on a regular basis. Some of his most notable works include Right-Click and Save As Guy, which sold in December 2021 for $7 million USD, and his Max Pain open edition, which achieved a total sale price of $23 million USD in 2022.
Recently, his works have returned to the spotlight. His piece entitled Bad Flavour sold for $665,000 USD in September 2024, whilst his ongoing DAMAGE CONTROL series – which runs until the end of 2024 – encourages collectors to burn both old and new XCOPY artworks for a chance to secure limited new releases.
What is the ICXN collection?
ICNX is a brand-new NFT collection from XCOPY, hosted on Art Blocks.
Utilising code written by XCOPY in collaboration with Aaron Penne, Director of Engineering at Art Blocks, each piece sees an array of pixels, in a select colour palette, make animated patterns across a black canvas, flickering and moving in distinct XCOPY style.
Each NFT is generated upon purchase by code, driven by Art Blocks Engine. The Art Blocks site allows users to generate example pieces using the algorithm behind the real collection, giving prospective buyers a taste of what they may receive.
